NOTE: Workday will not be available until March 30
Yes! You can access Workday via MyHC with any mobile browser, or you can download the Workday app in the Apple or Google Play app stores. When prompted for an Organization ID, enter hcfl, then login with your HC credentials.
You can view and edit most things from the Mobile app, but building a saved schedule to register cannot be done from the app at this time. See our Workday Mobile App guide for students for more info.
Note that when accessing Workday from a mobile browser, some things may look slightly different, and you may need to scroll or turn your phone landscape for a better experience.
Summer registration will be done in HawkGPS. Fall 2026 registration will be done in Workday. You will most likely need to wait 1 day after registering for Summer in HawkGPS to register for Fall in Workday, because Workday will not be able to see your Summer registrations immediately.
Select the 'Current Classes' Quick Action on the homepage, or go to the Academics Hub and select 'Current Classes'.
Click your picture icon in the upper right hand corner of the Workday homepage and select 'View Profile'. Residency Status will show on the Summary tab. 'Resident' means you qualify for in-state tuition. 'Non-resident' means you are classified as out-of-state for tuition purposes.
If you are classified as a non-resident, check your Workday tasks for the Residency Questionnaire to submit your documents. If the questionnaire is not in your inbox, go to the 'Actions' menu on your profile, and select 'Change my Residency' to trigger the questionnaire to go to your task box.
Go to your Academics Hub, and click the 'Transcript Submission Status' button.
NOTE: This only applies for students who were admitted for Fall 2026 after March 23, 2026.
Go to the 'Academics Hub' under 'Student' in the menu. Active holds will show on the Overview. Click 'View Holds' to see details on how to resolve.
You can also use 'View My Active Holds' Quick Action button on the Homepage.
To change your primary program of study, meet with an Academic Advisor and submit a 'Program Change' request form in Student Forms. This form will not be moved into Workday until after the Summer term.
NOTE: Programs cannot be changed after the add/drop period of a term. Any changes requested after add/drop of the current term will be effective the following term.
Mobile Browser
From a browser on your phone, login to Workday. Go to 'Academics Hub' from the Student menu and go to 'Saved Schedules and Registration' under 'Planning and Registration'. Follow the desktop instructions to register for classes, but note that you will need to scroll to the right/turn your phone landscape to use the schedule builder.
Workday Mobile App
The schedule builder is not available on the Mobile app at this time. If you have already built a saved schedule, you can go to the Academics app, then 'Courses & Saved Schedules' then select 'Saved Schedules'. From here you can view and register from your saved schedule.
See our How-to guide and video for more detail on how to use your Academic Progress report.

Running this process does not change your declared program of study! You must submit a 'Program Change Request' to change your declared program.
Once a seat becomes available and you are the next person on the waitlist, you will get a notification in your Workday 'My Tasks' box and an email.
When you get the notification in your Workday 'My Tasks' box, you have 24 hours to accept your seat.
After 24 hours, the seat will go to the next person on the waitlist if no action is taken.
NOTE: 24 hours includes the weekends, so check every day.
You can put yourself on the waitlist up to 3 days before the academic period's add/drop period ends.
After the last day of the add/drop period, everyone will be deleted from the waitlist and you will remain in your classes that you have already registered.
No, you cannot be placed on the waitlist if you have a hold. You can only request to be registered for open courses.
Yes, you can request to be on the waitlist for another section of a course you have also registered for. When you accept your seat, you will need to drop the other course and accept your seat for the desired course at the same time. See details in our How Waitlist Works guide.
Yes, you can request to be on the waitlist of a course at the exact same day and time as a course you are registered for. When you accept your seat, you will need to drop the other course and accept your seat for the desired course at the same time. See details in our How Waitlist Works guide.
From the saved schedule builder, you can click on the info icon to the right of the section to get more information for that section. This will tell you the ‘Waitlist Seats Available’. If Waitlist Seats Available says 4 of 5, this means that only 1 person is on the Waitlist so you would be the second person on the list.
There can be 5 students in total on the waitlist. After that, no one else can be added to the waitlist.
Yes, we recommend you still pick other courses while you are on the waitlist for your desired courses. There is no guarantee that you will be selected from the waitlist, even if you are the only person on the waitlist.
While on the waitlist, if you receive a hold, you will be skipped and the next student on the list will be offered the seat.
If you do not see/take action from the notification within the 24-hour period, you will be skipped after that 24-hour period. NOTE: This includes weekends.
No, staff do not have access to see where students stand on the waitlist.
Login to Workday, and select the 'Financials Hub' under 'Student' in the menu. Select 'View Financial Aid' and select the award year you want to look at. If the award year you are looking for (i.e. 2026-2027) does not appear in the drop-down, you have not yet been awarded any aid for the year.
If you have submitted your FAFSA for that year, make sure to check your task box in Workday for any outstanding action items.
Note: if this is your first time accepting student loans, you will be required to complete a Master Promisosory Note (MPN) and LOan Entrance Counseling on Studentaid.gov before they can be applied to your balance. Action items will appear in your task box with links. These tasks will clear automatically after HC receives confirmation you have completed the MPN and Entrance Counseling
Check your task box for any outstanding action items. If you have an action item that says 'Missing Financial Aid Documents', go to Student Forms to review and submit any required documents. Once all documents are submitted and reviewed, the action item will automatically be removed form your Workday tasks.
Go to 'Financials Hub' under 'Student' in the menu. Your balance will show on your summary, or you can go to 'View Account Activity'. Click the 'Make a Payment' button to connect to Nelnet, our third-party payment processor to pay your balance, or sign up to our Tuition Installment Plan (TIPS) to pay over a period of time.
NOTE: Fall charges will not be available until after July 1.
